In part 2, you will be invited to read some procedural texts related to technology usage manuals and tips (tips) with different purposes. at a glance, there are some texts that are usually both information on how to use something. But it turns out have a different purpose seen from the sentences used by the author.


As we know, language carries meaning depending on it and selection sentences. So it is very important to have literacy skills so that no information occurs.Let's practice understanding some procedural texts related to technology usage manuals and tips (tips) the following.



An electrical device for making toast.
An automated kitchen appliance designed to boil or steam rice.
An electric mixing machine used in food preparationlequefying, chooping
and pureeing ingridients.
A device that accepts text and graphic output rom a computer and
transform information to paper.
A computer that is portable and suitable for use while traveling.
A device for recording visual images in the form of photograph, film or video
signals.

Now let's try to read the information about the procedure text related to the manual and the following tips (tips) and practice analyzing social functions, text structures, and linguistic elements of the procedure text by answering the questions about the text.




Text 1








“How to Insert Sim Card Cellphone”




Cellphone is a modern communication device which connects one to the others by voice, written message and data. However, this device cannot work until the SIM card is inserted. When inserting the SIM Card to cellphone, make sure that the cellphone has been switched off and follow the directions bellow :
First of all, press the locking catch and slide the cover then lift it off the phone.
After that, push two catches in the opposite directions and remove the battery.
Next, slide the SIM card carefully into the slot and make sure that the golden connect arson are facing to the connector of the phone.
Then, put the battery and align it until snaps into its place.
Finally, insert the two catches of the back cover corresponding slot in the phone and slide the cover forward button of the phone until locks into place. Don’t forget to switch on the cellphone. Wait until it is ready to use.

First, rinse a cup of rice in cold water. Rub the rice softly under the running

attention to the water ratio. The rice and the water ratio is usually 1 part rice to 1 part water.
Then, place the cooking pot in the rice cooker properly. Cover the pot. Select the cooking button right after the light on the rice cook cook turns.

Now, let's analyze the social function of procedure text !


a. What are those texts about?
From the title of the text above we can see how information is given to readers about how to insert a sim card into a cellphone and how to cooking using a rice cooker through the steps that must be followed. Then the answer : The text is about the information on how to insert simcard
cellphone and how to cook rice in a rice cooker.


b. Who will probably need to read read the texts?
Questions use the question word "who" to answer questions You need to think about who needs this information. Then the Answer: Everyone who has cellphone and everyone who will cook rice in rice cooker will need to read this text


c. What are the purpose of the texts?
The purpose of the procedure text can be seen how the author provides information in the form of:
methods/instructions that must be followed so that the results achieved are efficient. .Therefore note that the initial sentence used always contains an imperative verb in the form of commands used at each stage. Then the answer: The purpose of each text is to tell how something is done/accomplished through the sequence of steps.


d. What is the benefit of reading the texts?
The benefits of reading texts are certainly related to the information provided so that readers get information to use the information accordingly efficiently delivered. Then the answer: The benefit of reading this text is the readers will know how to insert simcard cellphone and how to cook using a rice cooker. Well, now you have a better understanding of the social functions of procedural texts.

How to Organize Bedroom








Materials : Bed, photo, desk, pillow and bloster, DVD player and television.

Tools : Broom, rag, mop, fencing mask, paint, hair ties, books.

Action verb : Put, clean, use, move, wear, paint.

There are many steps to organize a bedroom to look clean and comfortable. It is the place where you start and finish your day. Dont be afraid to pamper yourself. The first, wear the fencing mask and hair ties before cleaning the room so as not exposed by dust. The second, take a broom and a mup to clean the floor and take a reg to clean the things. Pick your favorite color and if you are bored with the color you can change the color and paint the wall. The next, start preparing items such as move the bed and desk to the place that you want. And then, put the pillow and bolster on the bed and also put the books on the desk. After preparing items, add dvd player and television in front of the bed, so you can watch movie or anything on your bed, The last, take a photo or picture and put on the wall. This is many steps to make your bedroom look clean and comfortable. so that, you must keep your bedroom and you will want to stay a long time.
